Liangfeng Hu's Award-Winning Design Transforms Tea House Experience

Liangfeng Hu's Xi Space is more than just a tea house. It is a sanctuary where art, culture, and serenity converge. Drawing inspiration from Mihoko Koyama, a renowned Japanese collector and owner of the Miho Museum, Hu aimed to create a space that cultivates noble human emotions, enriches experience, and changes lives.

The Xi Space is a reflection of Hu's lifestyle and attitude. It integrates a tearoom, space for branding, and a collection area. The design is a harmonious blend of the most ordinary things and objects in Hu's life and work, synchronized with his inner spiritual aspirations. The result is a unique space that stands out for its simplicity and elegance.

Constructed using bricks, paintings, woods, and marble, the Xi Space spans an area of 110 square meters. The design process involved meticulous planning, from the preliminary planning of space to the detailed design scheme, and from the construction drawings to the supervision of the construction process. The result is a space that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and efficient.

Located at No.46, Yueming road, Yinzhou district, Ningbo, the Xi Space was completed within a timeframe of four months, from January to May 2018. The project posed several challenges, including how to incorporate a sense of ritual into the daily space, how to display collections, and how to express spiritual ideas. However, Hu successfully overcame these challenges, creating a space that is both beautiful and meaningful.

In Hu's view, collecting is a spirit of treasuring things, rather than the pursuit of wealth. The relationship between people and objects is delicate, and as time goes by, the objects that accompany people become precious memories of life and emotional sustenance of the heart. This philosophy is reflected in the Xi Space, which serves as a testament to the beauty of life and the respect for oneself and others.

The Xi Space is a winner of the prestigious Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The award is a testament to Hu's exceptional skill and creativity, and his commitment to creating spaces that inspire and transform.
